Skin Studio
ProAdd-onDesign a skin on a 3D model of the species and apply it to a player who is in-game. Presets from the game's own mutations and Arkanis palettes, or your own colours per region.
Open the Skin Studio →What is this?
A full-screen studio with the game's dinosaur models. Pick a species, pick a skin or build one, turn the model, then apply it to a player. The plugin writes the colours into the live dino and keeps them on it.
Why you might want it
Skins are the reward layer: event prizes, staff colours, a mark for a top pack. Nothing here touches the game's own mutation system; the paint sits on top of whatever the dino is.
Designing a skin
Pick the species and a starting point
The species list matches the game's roster. Skins come from four palettes: the game's own mutation looks (Vitiligo, Leucistic, Melanistic), Arkanis, Jurassic and Petits Pieds, plus any presets your guild has saved.
Customise
Ten regions take a colour each: body, markings, flank, underbelly, detail, male display, teeth, mouth, claws and eyes. Each species also has its own pattern set, chosen with the pattern picker under the model. Values above full brightness glow. Save the result as a guild preset to reuse it.
Apply to a player
The studio opens on you. Press Search to pick someone else by name or id. They must have their Steam account linked and be in-game on a covered server. The paint lands at once, and the plugin re-applies it on every respawn of that dino's life; it ends when the dino dies. Storing a painted dino keeps the paint on the voucher and the restore brings it back.
Members painting themselves
Members reach the studio from their own portal and can only ever paint themselves: there is no search, and the target is whoever is signed in. What they see is decided under Integration Settings, Skin Studio, and applies across every server the guild runs:
- Member skins. One per life (the default): a member applies one skin to the dinosaur they are playing and keeps it until that dinosaur dies, with no change and no clearing in between. Unlimited: apply, change and clear freely. Off: staff only.
- Skins members may apply. A checklist of every preset. Members only see the ticked ones. New guild presets start unticked, so nothing reaches members until you choose it.
- Members design their own. Off, members get the species and skins menus only. On, the customizer appears for them too.
Under One per life, Apply asks for a deliberate confirmation first: the member is told they cannot change or reapply until the dinosaur dies, and asked to preview the skin from every angle before they commit. The bot enforces the same rules, so nothing a member sends can get round them. Staff painting someone else are never bound by them.
Where the Petits Pieds skins came from
Forty-nine of the presets in the Skin Studio are the Petits Pieds mutation and event colours, carried over at their original values. Petits Pieds did this first, and built the biggest community in the game around it. The recipes are their work and the credit is theirs.
They are here for compatibility. A player who knows what Son of Dune looks like should not have to learn a second vocabulary because they changed servers. Arkanis is trying to make this kind of thing standard and available to every server, not to fence it off.
We have tried to reach Poutine Italienne about it more than once and have not heard back. The offer does not expire. If they would like these renamed, altered or taken out, one message to Arkanis and it is done, with no argument and no conditions.
The room
- Brightness and light angle sliders, a resolution cap for big screens, and Home, Front, Back, Left, Right and Top views (or turn the cube).
- Auto-rotate, Freeze to hold the idle still, Grid for the floor, and Move to slide the model instead of turning it.
- Up to five models side by side, each with its own skin, to compare a set.
- A light and a dark room. The switch in the studio header follows the dashboard theme and changes the room in place.
