Comparison

Arkanis vs Dyno

A fair side-by-side. Where Dyno is the better pick, where Arkanis is, and where you might want both.

Disclosure

We make Arkanis. This page is our attempt at a fair comparison. If anything here is wrong about Dyno, tell us and we will fix it. We do not benefit from anyone choosing Dyno over Arkanis, but we would rather you pick the right tool than feel mis-sold.

The honest take

Closer than MEE6, with the same gap on workflow.

Dyno has been a moderation-first Discord bot for years. AutoMod, modlog, custom commands, auto-responder, anti-raid, auto-roles. Solid at the basics, with a long track record.

Arkanis is a Discord governance platform. Same moderation surface, but built around staff workflow: cases with a Support Inbox, identity verification, capability-based permissions, a real audit trail, an enforcement rules engine, risk scoring, REST API, Claude Control, and game-server ops. If Dyno is the bot, Arkanis is the platform sitting around it. Pick Dyno if custom commands and auto-responders matter more to you than structured workflow. Pick Arkanis if the workflow is the point.

Dyno fits if
  • ·Custom commands and auto-responders are central to how you run your server.
  • ·Your moderation needs are warns, kicks, mutes, bans, and AutoMod. Nothing heavier.
  • ·You manage a small staff team where everyone trusts everyone.
  • ·You want server stats counters and welcome banners.
  • ·You are not running a game server alongside Discord.
  • ·You value a known brand with a long track record.
Arkanis fits if
  • ·You need real staff workflows. Cases, case panels, modmail cases from member DMs, all handled in the Support Inbox.
  • ·You need a complete audit trail. Who did what, why, when, with the reason text.
  • ·You enforce by rules that have consequences. Strike weights, escalation, sanctions.
  • ·You verify identity beyond Discord. Steam, Xbox, Alderon, game-server IDs.
  • ·You manage three or more staff with different permission scopes.
  • ·You run a game server. Pterodactyl or Pelican, RCON, SFTP log ingestion.
  • ·You want REST API and Claude Control (MCP) for automation.

Common questions about switching

Can I run both Arkanis and Dyno in the same Discord server?+

Yes. Communities often keep Dyno for its custom-command and auto-responder features, and run Arkanis alongside for cases, identity verification, audit, and game-server ops. They do not collide.

Will Arkanis import my Dyno settings or moderation history?+

No. The data shapes are too different. Arkanis does not have custom commands or an auto-responder, so there is nothing to import for those. Moderation history in Dyno is also not exposed to third parties.

Will Arkanis replace Dyno entirely?+

It depends on what you use Dyno for. If Dyno is mainly your moderation, AutoMod, modlog, and auto-roles layer, Arkanis covers that and more. If you also rely on custom commands or the auto-responder, you would keep Dyno alongside Arkanis or pick a separate bot for those.

Does Arkanis have a free tier like Dyno?+

Yes. Free covers rule enforcement, basic support cases, AutoMod, identity verification, full dashboard access, and complete audit logging. Modmail cases from member DMs, unlimited AutoMod, the risk-scoring board, enforcement rules, REST API access, Claude Control, and game-server features sit behind Pro.

Is Arkanis cheaper than Dyno Premium?+

Arkanis Pro is £7.99 per month, or £79.99 per year. Dyno Premium pricing varies by plan and is published on the Dyno site, so check both pricing pages for the current numbers. Arkanis is per-guild; Dyno Premium has historically been per-server with multi-server bundles.

Worth a closer look?

Arkanis is free for the core moderation, AutoMod, identity, and audit features. Sign in with Discord, add the bot, and judge for yourself.
